Class was great because we tried new things. My favorite thing yesterday was playing the game and earning my star on my stripe.

My son had gained so much self confidence after attending only 4 weeks of classes. His level of respect and discipline continues to increase as his training does. The instructors and staff are great with the kids and go above and beyond to make sure they know your child’s needs.

Great group of folks running this business. My son loves coming to karate here. I've never seen him so excited about anything, and we've tried several sports and activities. Says a lot about AFMA. Very impressed with all of the instructors. They have patience and go the extra mile for those with special needs as well, making it possible for those individuals to participate like everyone else (just from my observations). That's one of the things I love about this place. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to try out karate. They make it a fun environment to learn.

My son got confidence, overcome shy and is developing leadership qualities. He completed one year at American Family Martial Arts. Now he is in green belt. He loves karate and it's his passion. I recommend other parents also to join their kids to AFMA.

Mr. Foreman thought of an effective way to get the kids to think independently vs. following others. He gave them each different moves in Korean. We also like how he gives pneumonics for them to remember the words and actions. Evidently it's working and our girls are enjoying the classes very much!

Visited yesterday! My son will begin lessons Tuesday! We are really excited and everyone there is so nice and they work so well with the kiddos. The instructors seem to really enjoy the kids, while teaching life skills.

My boys have been members of American Family Martial Arts for the past 3 years. It has been absolutely amazing for them. The instructors are knowledgeable and know how to work with students. The instructors not only make them better martial artists but also better people. My oldest son has special needs. SBN Tullier and Mr. Foreman have been great with him. They are patient when they need to be and understand my son's needs. Since my boys have been taking karate their anxiety level has lowered and their confidence has soared. It has been a pleasure to be part of the AFMA family.

Building a Better Future for Our Community through Martial Arts

Helping the community has always been important to the husband and wife team at American Family Martial Arts. Since Michael and Jacky Tullier began operating schools in 1994, they have always made an effort to participate in their local community and to give back.

Mayor Broome breaks a boardSo far in 2019, there have been many fun events! Of course the annual Family Fit Day in late May/early June, is a must do. This year it was held by the lovely lake at Pennington Biomedical Center. Who knew there was a lake back there! This event is hosted by Healthy BR through the mayor-president’s office and features a slew of ACTIVE organizations like: BREC on the Geaux, Southside YMCA, KidZone, The Safety Place and lots of others. And Mayor Sharon Broome got in on the fun!

breaking boards by AFMA
What a cutie! Ready to break his first board!

For our 4th year, we had an activity tent at the Anna Grace Quarter Marathon. This event seeks to bring public  American Family Martial Arts at Anna's Graceawareness to the fact that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in a loss. While parents are running the marathon, there is a tent village set up with activities for the kids to do. American Family Martial Arts tent has the super fun board breaking!

Another contribution are donations for Silent Auctions. American Family Martial Arts donates a free birthday party for the organization to auction off! This hour and half birthday party has everything covered from the party decorations to the FUN! All a parent has to do is invite the kids and bring a cake!

Instead of a dull boring certificate, American Family Martial Arts makes a fun container with actual party treat box items like a ninja cup, ninja stress ball, bouncy balls, chopsticks and of course “Chinese handcuffs” among other items.

Past recipients have been Magic Happens Rescue, Families Helping Families, LaSalle Elementary, Oak Grove Elementary and lots of other schools. Just give us a call if you would like this FUNraiser! (I know it’s a bad pun but I couldn’t resist.)

This year we’ve also adopted LaSalle Elementary and Louisiana Key Academy. At Lasalle, we’ve provided food for teacher appreciation week and broke boards at their PTO Walk-a-Thon & Day of Play! We’re currently helping with a supply drive for the Fall 2019 semester. school supply drive by AFMA

At Louisiana Key Academy, we’ve been PE Teacher for the day and provided some moving around during their summer camps! La Key Academy is a charter school that specializes in unlocking the potential of children with dyslexia and helping them succeed in life and school. Which is part of what American Family Martial Arts does! One of the things we do is work on life skills>>check out our blog: Be In the Know!
